Every journey starts with a dream, and mine began with an endless curiosity about how technology could make businesses run smoothly. I am Christopher Salis, and my path to mastering SAP solutions has shaped my life and professional story.
Over the years, people have asked me how I became a trusted name in SAP. Every time, I realize that the answer is rooted in hands-on experience, learning from challenges, and building strong teams.
I never expected that my love for problem-solving and business applications would eventually lead me to SAP. It is one of the most important enterprise technology companies in the world.
Whether I was managing procurement at Adecco or leading global sales for SAP, I relied on determination and a desire to make things better for everyone involved.
How I Became an SAP Expert?
My first real taste of the business world was at Adecco Employment Services, fresh out of Purdue University. As a young IT Procurement Manager, I quickly found myself responsible for global operations and hundreds of locations. The experience taught me about the importance of picking the right suppliers and designing efficient processes for everyone.
After Adecco, I, Christopher Salis, took on new challenges at Gap Inc. and eBay. At eBay, I worked to streamline procurement and improve teamwork. I realized that real results come from sharing ideas, trying new methods, and helping each other reach our goals.
Starting My Leadership Role at Business Objects
2006 was a turning point in my life. I joined Business Objects, an SAP company focused on enterprise software and business intelligence. As Senior Manager for Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, I was able to combine my passion for technology with a focus on real-world results. That blend led to promotions, including Senior Director and, eventually, Executive Director and Chief of Staff for the Office of the CEO.
In those roles, I helped shape big decisions for SAP’s analytics and technology portfolio. Running global forecasts and working closely with the CEO taught me the importance of setting clear priorities.
Achieving Success with SAP Solutions
My entry into SAP SE was a dream I had. As Vice President and Head of Global Sales for Line of Business Solutions for Procurement, I pushed myself and my teams to innovate. Leading at SAP meant more than managing people. It meant showing others the value of teamwork, creativity, and determination.
I worked hard to commercialize SAP’s digital business unit and launch SaaS solutions that gave customers fast results and real value. My team shifted from twelve-month innovation cycles to just ninety days.
Taking zero-revenue products from nothing to forty-one million dollars was possible because I encouraged everyone to focus on fresh ideas combined with solid execution. As Global Vice President and General Manager, I guided teams to achieve four times SaaS revenue growth and three times overall revenue growth in a single year.
My leadership helped launch SAP sourcing and drove the acquisition of Ariba for over four billion dollars. I saw firsthand that clear thinking, open communication, and shared commitment turn new strategies into lasting success.
Giving Back and Helping Others Grow
After my time at SAP, I, Christopher Salis, shifted my focus to helping other companies and startups grow. At Catapuult Consulting, I support enterprises as they reinvent their procurement strategies. My practical approach helps teams spot problems, cut waste, and build systems for success.
I also enjoy mentoring startups, guiding new entrepreneurs as they turn ideas into thriving businesses. Sharing what I have learned about growth, finance, and leadership feels rewarding.
At Secure Our Schools Foundation, the nonprofit organization that I co-founded in 2022, I help promote school safety through smart solutions. Empowering over 250,000 students and educators with better technology gives my work real purpose.
