When people hear the name Christopher Salis, they often think of my years in tech, my work at SAP, and the companies I helped grow. However, my story goes beyond titles and numbers. It is a journey of learning, taking risks, guiding teams, and believing in ideas that could make work easier for people everywhere.
I did not start as an expert. I grew step by step, moving through roles that challenged me and shaped me into the leader I became. My hope in sharing this is simple. I want others to see that careers are built by trying, improving, and staying curious. If my story helps someone begin their own path with courage, then it holds even more meaning.
How My Early Career Opened the Door to New Possibilities?
Upon completing my degree at Purdue University, I transitioned into my first role at Adecco Employment Services. I became responsible for managing the IT procurement program across hundreds of branch locations. This taught me how large systems work and how every decision can impact many people.
I handled vendor selection, contract talks, and guided partners through complex processes. These moments showed me the value of structure and trust. They also planted the first seeds of leadership in my life. After Adecco, I worked at Gap Inc. and later at eBay. Each role helped me grow stronger in operations, sourcing, and business strategy. I learned how to solve problems fast and support teams so they could do their best work.
Looking back, these early days created the foundation I needed for the next chapter. A chapter that would take me into a world I once thought was out of reach.
The Turning Point That Led Me Into Enterprise Software
In 2006, I joined Business Objects, an SAP company. This was a major turning point in my journey. I began as a senior manager for procurement and strategic sourcing. Soon, I moved into product management and then became executive director and chief of staff for the CEO.
These roles taught me how to guide global programs and manage complex projects. I supported a multibillion-dollar division and worked with leadership teams that shaped major business decisions. This experience introduced me to the deep power of enterprise software and how technology can transform companies.
During this time, I began hearing something more often. People started saying the name Christopher Salis with trust because they saw my commitment to solving problems and pushing innovation.
My Years at SAP: Where I Learned the Most About Leadership
In 2010, I joined SAP as the Vice President and Head of Global Sales for procurement solutions. I later became the Global Vice President and General Manager. My final role there was Global Vice President and Head of Portfolio for the company’s go to market strategy.
These years were powerful. I helped reduce the time it took for new products to reach revenue. I supported huge growth in SaaS offerings and helped products move from zero revenue to strong multimillion dollar performance. I guided the team through the acquisition of Ariba worth over four billion dollars and later led the post-merger direction.
People often remember these accomplishments. But what I remember most is the team. The talent. The shared belief that we could build something better for our customers. That experience shaped the leader I am today and made Christopher Salis a name people linked to innovation and trust.
Why I Chose to Help Startups and New Founders
After SAP, I wanted to do something different. I wanted to guide new founders the way others had guided me. As a startup advisor, I helped young companies grow from early ideas into real businesses. I supported them through hard decisions and encouraged them to build things that matter.
I also worked as managing partner at Catapuult Consulting. There, I helped enterprises improve spending strategies and supported startups in reaching strong recurring revenue. Helping others unlock their potential has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
Giving Back Through Secure Our Schools Foundation
In 2022, I co-founded Secure Our Schools Foundation. We wanted to use technology to support safer learning spaces for students. Our programs reached more than two hundred and fifty thousand children. We focused on preventing emergencies and helping schools prepare for critical moments.
My work here is personal. It reminds me that leadership is not just about growing revenue. It is about the growing impact. When people mention the name Christopher Salis, I want them to think of someone who made life better for others.
My Journey To Success
My journey as Christopher Salis has been filled with lessons, surprises, and growth. From my early days managing procurement to leading global teams at SAP and advising startups, every step taught me something new. I learned that success is built over time. It grows when you listen, take action, and remain open to change.
If you are beginning your own path, remember this. You do not need to see the whole road. Just take the next step with purpose. Keep learning. Keep believing. And keep moving forward.
